Rolls Royce in the London 2012 closing ceremony
Mon, 13 Aug 2012Three special Rolls Royce Phantom DHCs featured in last night’s Olympic closing ceremony – without the Rolls Royce logos. It’s been a good Olympic Games for BMW. They scored a big PR coup with the remote-controlled MINIs that gathered Javelins and discus in the field events, and they’ve managed to get Rolls Royce front and centre for the closing ceremony last night.
2015 Mercedes CLS and CLS Shooting Brake (minor) facelift revealed
Wed, 18 Jun 2014The 2015 Mercedes CLS and CLS Shooting Brake (pictured) get a small facelift The Mercedes tease for the 2015 facelift of the CLS and CLS Shooting Brake focused firmly on the new Multibeam LED headlights. But that’s because they’re about the most significant changes Mercedes has wrought to its four-door swoopy coupe. New Mercedes S-Class Plug-in Hybrid to debut at Frankfurt Motor Show
Fri, 05 Jul 2013The new Mercedes S-Class (pictured) will arrive with a plug-in hybrid version in September We’ve known Mercedes were planning a plug-in hybrid version of the new S-Class as far back as 2009, and it now appears it will debut – as a 2014 model – at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show in September. When Mercedes revealed the Vision S500 Plug-in Hybrid Concept at Frankfurt in 2009, they had fitted it with a V6 petrol engine mated to a 44kw motor and a bank of lithium-ion batteries, and promised the hybrid S-Class would do 90mpg, have emissions of under 75g/km and manage 18 miles in EV mode. That means the hybrid S-Class would have performance comparable to the V8 petrol-engined S500 but attract no BIK or VED in the UK.
