Porsche buyers put the brakes on stop-start technology

Start-stop works by cutting the engine when the car’s stationary in traffic, and restarting automatically when you touch the pedals to move off again. Every manual transmission-equipped BMW 1-series comes with the technology, excepting the truly high performance versions.

Mercedes CLA: Price from £24,355

The new Mercedes CLA – the swoopy coupe based on the new A Class – will cost from £24,355 in the UK with a choice of Sport or AMG Sport trim. Mercedes gave a quick flash of their cool new A Class Coupe and then whipped it off to the Berlin Fashion Week for a proper debut, clearly showing that Mercedes think the new CLA a style statement as much as a car. 2013 Ford Fusion gets stop/start as $295 option

Ford Motor Co. is bringing its Auto-Start-Stop system to the United States, the first time it has offered the system in this country in a nonhybrid application. The $295 option will be offered only on 2013 Ford Fusions powered by a 1.6-liter, four-cylinder EcoBoost engine, which Ford predicts will be the top-selling Fusion engine.
