New Opel Monza revealed – sort of – ahead of Frankfurt debut

Opel’s Karl-Thomas Neumann (pictured) reveals the first look at the new Opel Monza Last week we revealed that there will be a new Opel Monza at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show in September, although much of the detail was educated guesswork. And even though Vauxhall has taken some off the wraps of the new Monza this morning, we’re still not really any the wiser. Vauxhall/Opel are calling the Monza ‘The Future’ of the brand and say it represents a vision of the company’s future and will have a long term impact on production cars.

A leaked photo of the 2011 BMW 5 Series We’ve seen the next generation, 2011 BMW 5 Series pounding round the Nurburgring in disguise for quite some time. But with the 2011 5 Series due to hit the car shows in 2010 we’ve finally got hold of what appears to be a leak from the Swedish version of the German car magazine Auto Motor & Sport. The 2011 5 Series is going to be an evolution rather than a revolution.

Tornadoes halt output at Mercedes, Toyota plants in South

Violent weather across Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee has halted production at Toyota and Mercedes-Benz plants in Alabama, as emergency workers try to assess two days of damage in the region. On Wednesday, a mile-wide tornado destroyed parts of Tuscaloosa, Ala., damaging the Mercedes-Benz U.S. International auto-assembly plant just north of the city.
