Original 1951 Volkswagen Vw Owners Manual (in German) on 2040-parts.com
Vallejo, California, United States
My sister in New York sent me this 1951 VW Owner's Manual that she came across recently. My Uncle bought (as I remember the story) the 272nd VW sold into America, presumably from Max Hoffman, in 1951(never even knew about Max Hoffman until watching American Pickers). When he went to Korea, my Grandfather took the car. Gramps did a fair amount of driving and he traded it in on a 1953, again on a 1955 and again on a 1957 Karmann Ghia. The latter models he purchased from Paul Sagan in Uniondale, NY. While I am too young to remember the 1951 VW that I am pictured next to in the 5th picture, I do remember the '53 that I am pictured in front of in picture 6, as well as going to Sagan's to pick up the Ghia.
Anyway, the manual is in very nice shape, probably because while the family had German roots, no one was real fluent. Prices for early VW stuff is crazy and with the family history, I'd rather keep it than sell it too cheaply. SO HERE GOES! |
