By Ben Pulman Motor Industry 05 November 2007 02:47 This past weekend the foundation stone for the Ferrari Theme Park was laid on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi – one of seven Emirates making up the UAE - along with a time capsule. Under the rule of Luca di Montezemolo Ferrari has gone from strength to strength, and having its own theme park will surely cement Ferrari’s future. The theme park will sprawl across 250,000sq m, with 80,000sq m under cover.

[ad#ad-1] It’s the trend at the moment, and one that won’t go down very well with our American cousins, who are fond of saying that ‘There ain’t no substitute for cubic inches’, as the three big luxury German Car Companies – Audi BMW and Mercedes – are planning to move away from their big ‘V’ engines. BMW V10 - on the way out The news started last week, when Audi let it be known that their new S5 will not use the V8, but will instead use a supercharged V6. Earlier this week, news came from BMW that its next generation of ‘M’ cars will forsake the V10s so beloved of M owners, and will instead go for turbo versions of the V8.

New Audi e-Tron at Detroit – the ‘Compact’ e-Tron

Audi has revealed a compact version of the e-Tron at the Detroit Motor Show Audi brought along the first Audi e-Tron to the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. Looking like an electric version of the Audi R8, it managed to steal some of the thunder from BMW’s Vision ED concept . Most notable was the stratospheric torque figures Audi quoted, which ultimately turned out to be somewhat disingenuous.
