This is an original GM forged steel crankshaft for large journal Chevy 302 engines. The large journal Chevy 302 crank was only used in 68 and 69 Camaros with the Z/28 option. The forging number on this crank is 1178(GM Part number 3941178). The 1178 crank was used in 1968 and early 69 Z/28. This crank directly interchanges with the earlier made 3279(3923279). Finding a true 1178 large journal 302 crank is a near impossible task.

This crank is in very good condition as shown. This crank was recently purchased out of the stash of an machine shop owner and old hot rodder. The crank was machined .020 under on the rod and main journals and has been properly stored on a "crank tree" for at least 20 years. The journals have some staining from the decades of storage but nothing that will need attention. The crank could likely be used as is or could be polished to be safe. This crank does not look to have ever been balanced. The crank was recently cleaned and magnafluxed. There are no cracks in this crankshaft.  This is simply a very nice original GM crankshaft

This is your chance to own the large journal 302 crank you have been dreaming about at at great price. Don't Miss Out!

On Jan. 3, 1899, the New York Times printed the word "automobile" upon its austere pages. It wasn't the first publication to do so; Scientific American used the phrase "automobile carriage" in a May 14, 1898, review of the Winton Motor Carriage, but the Grey Lady -- a more influential publication -- was the first to debate the term.
