This is a compete set of original Chrysler Steel wheels, 15x8 width, 5x4.5 bolt pattern with 4.25 inch backspacing.   This is the factory OEM wheel that was used on a variety of Chrysler vehicles over the 1970s and 1980s on mainly jeeps, trucks and vans.  The brushed stainless center caps are included.

I have been asked what passenger cars these wheels fit?  I am not an expert but I have owed several Chrysler B, C, E, F, R, J and M body vehicles from 1968 through 1989 where I successfully used (i.e., no interference issues) this size steel OEM wheel with 225/70, 235/70, 245/60, 255/60, and 275/60 tires.  I know this width was a factory offering on the 1978 Aspen Super Coupe (an F body) and the 1978-1979 Magnum GT (a B body).   I am not making any recommendations .. just communicating my experience.

This style wheel has the bolt openings in the hub area for screw-on center caps (photo 8).  Many of the other various styles (the "red circle" caps from the Hemi cars, the vented caps from the 1978-1989 police cars, etc.) of Chrysler 8.75 inch diameter "poverty caps" will fit this wheel as well.  The screw-in and vented cap examples in the last two photos are NOT included with this auction.

The outside-facing surfaces of the wheels were sanded, primed and spray-painted (several coats, wet-sanded between coats) Satin Black.  The inside surfaces were degreased and primed/painted only once and also in Satin Black.  You can of course re-finish them in whatever color or quality level (e.g. powdercoating) fits your needs.

The wheels are straight and have no structural rust, edge defects, or rounded out bolt holes.  All four wheels have the various Chrysler stampings (15x8 JJ, letters, other numbers, etc) on the face and/or back side, so they are definitely the genuine Chrysler article.  The center caps are in very good used condition.

Please examine the all high-resolution photos closely using the magnification settings as necessary. If there are any questions that cannot be answered from the photos and this writeup, please write me for more information.

BEFORE YOU BUY, please note that any wheel, lug nut, and tire fitment requirements (refer to expert sources for specification and application guidance if needed) are the sole responsibility of the buyer.  These OEM wheels are "hub centric" and therefore may not fit all Chrysler 5x4.5 applications OR those same bolt patterns from other manufacturers (e.g. Ford and AMC).  Wheels are sold "as is, where is" without any explicit or implied warranty of any kind.

have set a reasonable price for this complete set of original Mopar steel wheels with center caps.  Note that I reserve the right to end this auction early at my sole discretion.

If you want a "clone", universal-fit (not "hub-centric") wheel that at least "looks like" the originals, they are available as aftermarket pieces from reputable sellers.  The fact remains however they are not "real" Chrysler wheels, so if originality is important to you, you have to look for the Chrysler factory markings that only appear on the originals.

Video: Honda Super Ultra Daydreams has us smiling with joy

Thu, 28 Nov 2013

Honda's press conference at last week's press conference was full of the usual marketing messages about sales figures, new models and company strategies but the thing that caught our magpie-like eyes was this joyful little video. The cheeky vector graphics feature 19 of the company's concept cars from the last 20 years, starting with the 1994 FSR right up to the NSX via such wonderful oddities as the Kiwami and P-Nut, all accompanied by a bouncy score.  It reminded us all why this is a brand that has always stood out as individual and creative even if the last few years have been a little sparse.
