First is the ROLLS-ROYCE & BENTLEY Owner's Handbook.

Printed in black, white, green and red, this 130 page book is bound by a textured green hardcover with silver printing.

Second is the ROLLS-ROYCE & BENTLEY Owner's Handbook Supplement printed in black and white with brown accents.

This 22 page booklet is covered in mottled beige paperboard with silver printing.

Third is the Service booklet.

This 67 page booklet is covered in mottled beige paperboard with silver printing.

Fourth is the unopened packet about the Blaupunkt Autoradio.

Fifth is the four page Consumer Information Brochure covered in mottled beige paperboard with orange printing.

Sixth is the Sales and Service Handbook 1982/83.

Printed in black, white and beige, this 64 page book is bound with a glossy orange paperboard cover with black and white printing.

Seventh is the Power Operated Hood Systems booklet.

Printed in black and white, this 14 page booklet is bound by a beige paperboard cover with blue printing.

Eighth is a red and white single page Additional Information Radial-ply tyres leaflet.

The next three items are the cards tucked inside the folder these fine items all came in: a Vehicle Identification Card, a Key number card and a Warning card.

And last is the brown vinyl folder these items came in.

A classic piece of history.

It’s fair to say that drivers are pretty well protected in just about any new car on the market today. It’s rare for cars to get anything below the maximum five stars in the Euro NCAP crash tests, and even the most basic of cars come with equipment like ABS and airbags as standard. But America’s Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has devised a new test, which involves a “small overlap front crash” – similar to a head-on crash but only the front corner of a car collides with a solid object.

But the gestation of the AM Rapide seems to have been so long it’s quite hard to remember who owned Aston Martin when the Rapide first poked its very elegant nose above the parapet, so it seems a big deal that complete cars are now heading out to customers.
