Nissan LEAF hits 3000 sales in the UK What can probably be considered the first properly convincing electric car – the Nissan LEAF – has clocked up 3,000 sales in the UK since it was launched in 2011. In terms of overall car sale in those two years it’s an insignificant fraction, but in terms of making the electric car a viable form of transport it’s a big milestone. Jaguar’s next-generation XJ luxury sedan will incorporate design features from the C-XF concept first shown at Detroit, AutoWeek has learned. Although prototypes captured by spy photographers are disguised with BMW-style grilles, the face of the new 2010 XJ will feature Jag’s gaping square grille and a curvaceous body with a rakish, coupelike rear window. The final XJ incorporates slim headlights with double-projector lenses that are very close in design to those revealed on the dramatic C-XF shown at the 2007 North American International Auto Show.

BYD e6 electric-taxi fire kills 3 after high-speed collision with Nissan GT-R

A BYD e6 electric taxi burst into flames following a collision with a Nissan GT-R in the Chinese city of Shenzhen on May 26. China Car Times reports that the driver of the GT-R might have been drag-racing while intoxicated. The Nissan was reportedly traveling at between 90 mph and 125 mph when it hit the BYD.
