A slightly mud spattered Jaguar XKR after yet another 'Brisk' country run If you choose to think about the history of Jaguar, there’s a fair chance you’ll end up thinking about the two cars that have come to epitomise all that Jaguar stood for – the 1961 Jaguar E-Type and the 1968 Jaguar XJ. If you delve further in to the mush that passes for a brain you’ll probably manage to drag up remnants of automotive lust for cars like the XK120 and XK140 or the D-Type or Jaguar SS or maybe even the Jaguar MK II. And those memories will probably reinforce in your mind that Jaguar are makers of classy, swift and desirable sports cars and sports saloons.

The IFR Aspid drew a lot of attention at this year's Salon Prive Not the best known name in the motoring world, IFR – and it’s main man, Ignacio Fernández – are never the less a force to be reckoned with, and we’re pretty sure we’ll be hearing a whole lot more from them before too long. Tesla are planning a self-driving car Now that car makers have been fitting radar and sensors to their cars for some time, which allow stuff like adaptive cruise – which automatically slows behind traffic and can even bring the car to s stop on its own – the race is on to make cars even more autonomous. We’ve reported recently on the Mercedes Intelligent Drive S-Class that negotiated its way – more or less – on a 60 mile route in Germany, and on Volvo’s self-parking system which will take your car in to a multi storey car park by itself, park, and meet you when you return. Google has also been playing with self-driving cars and has even gained permission to run its autonomous cars in California, and now Tesla are joining the fray with plans for an autonomous car in the next three years.
