Coventry University's ‘Selected Works' show, held from Monday 23 to Sunday 29 June in the Transport Museum in Coventry, UK, showcased an array of projects created by students in the MDes Transport Design, BA Transport and Product Design, BA Automotive Design and BA Boat Design progams. Dodge Motorsports is starting its own celebrity race to rival the long-running Toyota Long Beach event. The Duel in the Desert inaugural Dodge Viper Celebrity Challenge will air on the Versus network on Oct. 9 at 3 p.m.

PPG Design Challenge

Global supplier PPG Industries presented its Design Challenge awards at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show in January. The annual automotive glass design competition called for students to design a vehicle for a 20-something male named Matt - a recent college graduate beginning his career - whose vehicle needed to be image-enhancing and reliable. Taking inspiration from golf, bamboo charcoal and catamaran boats, 26 transportation design sophomores presented concepts that demonstrated the versatility of glass in providing unique styling as well as utility, comfort and convenience.
