One Lap of the Web: Antarctic hot rods, Nissan BE-1 for sale and parting with a beloved Wagoneer
Mon, 25 Nov 2013-- Here's yet another gem we first saw over at Hemmings: The first, and (so far as we know) only Antarctic hot rod ever built. It might be from 1968-'71; not much else is known, except that it was probably constructed by Navy SeaBees operating out of McMurdo Station. From the one photo we have, it looks like it could have a Jeep flathead four up front.
Lamborghini Egoista (2013) first official pictures
Mon, 13 May 2013Lamborghini's latest birthday present to itself is this: the crazy-looking Egoista concept. The one-off Egoista follows the Veneno and Aventador Anniversario in paying tribute to Lamborghini's 50th year in the supercar business, and is the most radical looking yet – it's so exclusive Lambo isn't even considering putting it up for sale. Is the Egoista just a bodykitted Gallardo?
Ford debuts another Australian hot rod
Mon, 27 Aug 2012Ford's Australian-based Performance Vehicles operation has unveiled its fastest car to date—the Falcon-based FPV GT R-spec. To be assembled at Ford Performance Vehicle's headquarters on the outskirts of Melbourne, the rear-wheel drive GT R-spec packs the same engine as the earlier GT335, a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 producing 449 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. But, a range of chassis modifications, including a retuned suspension, wider 19-inch rear wheels and tires and new launch control system are claimed to provide the greater off-the-line speed than any previous model from Ford's Australian outpost.
