Overhauled 1929 Wright J6-7 (r760) Radial Aircraft Engine For Waco, Travel Air on 2040-parts.com

FRESHLY OVERHAULED AUGUST 2016
Manufacturer Part Number:J6-7 Brand:WRIGHT UPC:Does not apply

This is a very early 225 hp. Wright J6-7 radial aircraft engine, also identified as a R-760 (no dash no.).  The J6-7 was designed as a replacement for the earlier Wright J-5 and was used on many Golden Age aircraft of the late 1920s and early 1930s.  This particular engine was manufactured on October 18, 1929, three months after the first J6-7 was built and only eleven days before the stock market crashed, beginning the Great Depression.  That makes this very likely the earliest J6-7 still in existence.

The engine was overhauled to factory new standards by Radial Engines, Ltd. in July of this year.   That overhaul included fresh Nuchrome cylinders, overhauled magnetos, ignition harness, and an overhauled carburetor.  The engine was test run 5.0 hours and comes with logs from 1938, build up sheets, and a FAA 8130-3 form.  It has also been preserved for long term storage.

The engine comes with a serviceable exhaust dishpan and exhaust collector with pipes (the exhaust needs minor repair).  The engine stand does not come with the engine.  This J6-7 runs very well and would be the perfect engine for a very original Waco Taperwing/Straightwing, early Cabin Waco, Stinson or Travel Air restoration.

Volkswagen XL1

Fri, 22 Feb 2013

This, remarkably, is the production version of the Volkswagen XL1, the most fuel-efficient production car in the world, a car we'll see in Geneva in a little over a week. Barely changed from the concept version shown at the Qatar motor show two years ago, the production XL1 is the first production result of VW's 1-liter project – to design a car that uses less than 1l/100km (282.5mpg imperial) – that started with the lozenge-shaped, tandem-seat 2003 1L and the later L1 of 2009. The XL1 actually beats that by sipping just 0.9 liters with CO2 emissions of 21g/km.

2013 Bentley Mulsanne get even more sybaritic

Wed, 23 Jan 2013

The 2013 Bentley Mulsanne (2014 MY) comes complete with added luxury and new technology and debuts at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. With the Mulsanne being Bentley’s flagship model, and pretender to the luxury crown held by its former sibling, Bentley are working hard to make the 2013 Mulsanne (2014 in the US) an even more luxurious and relevant choice for the modern plutocrat, with a range of additional luxury appointments and options and some new technology. We can’t really call the 2013 Mulsanne a facelift, because you’d have to look really hard to see any exterior changes (unless they have one of the new Mulsanne paint jobs - Dark Cashmere, Portofino and Damson) but there are tweaks and optional extra goodies on the inside.
