CAR Most Wanted of 2014: Mini Cooper S
Mon, 20 Jan 2014By the CAR editorial team First Official Pictures 20 January 2014 14:00 The styling of the new Mini Cooper generated huge debate when we revealed the new hatch on CAR Online late last year. Some of you hated the bulbous, high-shouldered look, while others criticised the stylists for not moving the game on far enough next to rivals like the Citroen DS3 and Audi A1. The dust is still settling on that front, but there can be no argument over just how important the new Cooper is not just for Mini, but BMW’s future too.
Jaguar C-X75 heading up the hillcimb at Goodwood Festival of Speed
Fri, 12 Jul 2013The Jaguar C-X75, pictured at Goodwood ahead of its Supercar run Jaguar are pulling out all the stops for this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed with not only their latest performance cars but the debut of the Jaguar Project 7, an F-Type R with the DNA of a D-Type. But they’ve topped all that by deciding that their canned supercar project – the Jaguar C-X75 – deserves a proper outing in public. Jaguar only have five development versions of the C-X75, but they’ve taken one to Goodwood – although it’s not on display – and are wheeling it out over the weekend to take part in the Michelin Supecar run up the hill.
BMW 2 Series Active Tourer gets (slightly inappropriate) M Sport Package
Fri, 28 Mar 2014The BMW 2 Series active Tourer moves to the butch side with an M Sport Package Purists moan, but the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer MPV is a sensible move by BMW and aimed at BMW lovers who need a BMW equivalent to the Mercedes B Class; a premium family car for shifting kids and stuff around. Using the same platform as the all new MINI, the 2 Series Active Tourer is BMW’s first front wheel drive car, although a 225i Active Tourer will go on sale in November complete with BMW’s 4WD xDrive. But the 2 Series Active Tourer wouldn’t be a BMW offering unless it also came with the option of an M Sport Pack, which is exactly what will be on offer – however unsuited the Active Tourer may seem for such sporty embellishments – when the xDrive Active Tourer arrives in November (although the M Sport Pack will be offered across the whole Active Tourer range).
