UK electric car sales hit record high
Tue, 12 Nov 2013While electric cars may not have taken off as quickly as the likes of Renault and Nissan had hoped, the latest figures from the government’s £5,000 electric car grant scheme show that sales have leapt 25% in the last quarter. A total of 1,149 electric cars were registered in Q3, not only a 25% improvement over Q2, but the most successful quarter since the government scheme began back in January 2011, indicating that consumers are starting to understand the technology and its limitations rather better. Cleveland Institute of Art - Nissan project
Wed, 18 Feb 2009Nissan sponsored a semester-long project for the Cleveland Institute of Art at the end of last year. The project guidelines were to create a 'truck', which was defined as a vehicle that has some form of utility, for the year 2020. While some students decided to create more traditional truck designs, others chose to redefine what utility meant while others created projects that would appeal to very specific niche markets.
Citroën designers: Design students have 'golden opportunity'

Though the automotive industry has been suffering in many regions in the current economic climate, the next generation of car designers "have got a fantastic opportunity," says Andrew Cowell, Senior Design Manager at Citroën, in conversation with Car Design News at the Royal College of Art, London. "The industry will evolve quite a lot, and these guys (the students on the postgraduate Vehicle Design course) will come out into a very different world." "They'll start in a very interesting period", says Alexandre Malval, Citroën Design Director and himself a graduate from the RCA course.
