WORK DONE  THRU THE REPAIR STATION IS TO STANDARD CATERGORY AIRCRAFT.WE ALSO DO FLOW MATCHING FOR EXPERIMENTAL CATERGORY AIRCRAFT.

THE PURPOSE OF FLOW MATCHING IS TO BALANCE AIRFLOW THRU THE INTAKE AND EXHAUST PORTS OF A CYLINDER RESULTING IN A MORE EVEN FLOW THRU THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER OF THE CYLINDER. AIRFLOW IS BALANCED BY ADJUSTING AIRFLOW THRU THE INTAKE AND EXHAUST PORTS.THE PORTS OF A CYLINDER CAN SHOW A 10% OR UP TO 20 CFM DIFFERENCE IN AIRFLOW BETWEEN CYLINDERS RESULTING IN UNEVEN PERFORMANCE AND LOSS OF POWER. A GAIN OF 10-20 HORSEPOWER CAN BE ACCOMPLISHED.CUSTOMERS REPORT A SMOOTHER RUNNING ENGINE IN ADDITION TO MORE POWER.

THE PROCEDURE FOR FLOW TESTING IS TO SIMULATE AIRFLOW THRU THE INTAKE AND EXHAUST PORTS USING A FLOW BENCH AT A CONSTANT TEST PRESSURE. THE FLOW TEST IS PERFORMED USING SIX DIFFERENT VALVE LIFTS TO MAXIMUM VALVE LIFT. A CUSTOMIZED COMPUTER PROGRAM IS USED TO CALCULATE ALL TEST RESULTS AND GENERATE GRAPHICS,( LINE CHARTS & COMPARISON BAR CHARTS ) FOR EACH CYLINDER. PORTS ARE MATCHED WITHIN 1% FOR THE INTAKE AND 3% FOR THE EXHAUST. AN EXAMPLE OF  INTAKE AND EXHAUST FLOW INITIAL/FINAL COMPARSION CHARTS ARE SHOWN.

BENEFITS OF FLOW MATCHING: > INCREASED PERFORMANCE! >INCREASED POWER! > SMOOTHER RUNNING ENGINE! > MORE EFFICIENCY!

VALVES ARE LAPPED TO IMPROVE THE BREAKIN PROCEDURE AND THE CYLINDERS ARE ASSEMBLED AND VACUUM TESTED FOR LEAKS AT NO CHARGE.

Crucified cassette, Hindi BMW remix CD and other junkyard musical finds

Mon, 24 Mar 2014

In addition to holiday-themed displays assembled by junkyard employees and the occasional sad, flood-victim Volvo Amazon, I frequently find homemade mix CDs and cassette tapes while prowling through wrecking yards. In fact, it would be possible to go into just about any high-inventory-turnover self-service wrecking yard in North America and come away with several dozen such discs and tapes, if anybody ever felt motivated to do such a thing. I haven't, yet.

Concept Car of the Week: Porsche Tapiro (1970)

Fri, 11 Jan 2013

By the late 1960s it was time for Porsche to create a new car that would replace its ageing entry-level model, the 912. Its sister company Volkswagen also needed a sports coupe to replace the Karmann Ghia and so the two brands joined together to develop what would become the Porsche 914. These days the 914 holds something of a ‘cool factor', generally considered as the ‘black sheep' in Porsche history.

CAR reader Lokinen remembers going eight up in a Woody

Wed, 23 Sep 2009

By Lokinen Motoring Issues 23 September 2009 17:35 When dad's old farina Morris Oxford could be bodged through an MOT no more, he returned home one day with an Old English White 'Woody' Mini Traveller. Trouble was, there were four of us kids, aged from six to 11. On shopping nights we'd sit four abreast on the rear seat, at other times I'd choose the rear compartment and a couple of pillows.
