Nissan and Fiat marketing heads trade insults over 'visual pollution'
Thu, 06 Dec 2012A war of words has erupted between Fiat and Nissan's marketing departments over their electric vehicle designs, the Leaf and the 500e. Matt Davis, head of Fiat product marketing, told Bloomberg News before the launch of its all-electric 500e at the Los Angeles show last week that "ugliness is probably one of the worst forms of pollution," seen as an indirect attack on Nissan's electric offering. The then 500e came under attack with Nissan criticizing the fact that it was created only to meet Californian emissions requirements.
Project Car Hell, Straight Eight, Two Doors Edition: '47 Buick or '53 Packard?
Fri, 25 Apr 2014Welcome back to another session in the Hell Garage, where you choose between a pair of projects that match coolness with torment. Before the V8 reigned supreme in luxury-car land, cars with long hoods and smooth-running inline-eight engines showed that you had made it, and we've found a pair of such cars that should be gorgeous when restored…after about a decade of work.
One Lap of the Web: Scottsdale oddballs, a lost Morris and in-home car washes
Tue, 28 Jan 2014A man in the UK purchased an old Morris Isis...then forgot about it in the back of his garage for 12 years. When he rediscovered the car and cleared all the trash off, he also learned it was one of the oldest of its kind in the world. While we have a few questions, not the least of which is "how does one forget a car parked in the garage," we're pleased to see that the owner has since restored the car and plans to strap a trailer on the back and take it to the beach later this summer.
