Pontiac Lives: Tire-smokin' GTOs and Trans Ams set for SoCal auction

It's been almost a year since General Motors announced the end of the road for Pontiac. While the century-old brand has now joined Oldsmobile, Plymouth and a long list of other iconic makes in the automotive afterlife, the collector market remains more alive than ever. A lineup of 27 classic Pontiacs, including 17 GTOs, will cross the auction block in June.

Toyota Hybrid-R Concept – a Yaris with 400bhp – teased for Frankfurt

Toyota, on the other hand, have primarily used their impressive – if complicated and expensive – hybrid powertrains to yield improved economy and emissions from more prosaic cars like the Prius, Yaris and Auris. But now it looks like Toyota are ready to show us what hybrid technology can offer in the way of performance too, with a tease for what Toyota are calling the Hybrid-R Concept, which appears to be a Yaris with more than 400bhp on tap.

McLaren has released details of their new supercar - the McLaren MP4-12C Known for so long by its code name – P11 – this MP4-12C is the first real McLaren since the legendary F1. And on the face of it it certainly looks like it has enough to offer to stand proud as the inheritor of McLaren’s reputation for exceptional road cars. Not scheduled to go on sale until 2011, the MP4-12C is aimed at the heart of Supercar sales, expected to go on sale at a price a small notch above the latest offering from Ferrari – the 458 Italia – at around £160,ooo.
