This listing is for an after market wood pickup box that was most likely used on a Model T Ford sometime back before 1930 or so. Generally, a Model T Ford touring car at that time was not worth much so someone would often remove the back section of the body and install a pickup box like this to convert it to a more useful pickup truck.
I really do not know if this box was completely factory built or not. The quality of the work on the wood parts is nice enough to make me think the complete box was factory built. However, it is possible that someone bought a manufactured steel hardware kit and bought lumber locally to built this box about 85 years ago. I am not an expert when it comes to working with wood so I don't know which wood parts on this box are hardwood and which are softwood. There is no doubt in my mind that this box was used on a Model T Ford at one time because of the battery access hole in the floor at the left front corner of this box. The wood is old enough so that it is not very strong anymore. It is good enough to use for patterns to make new replacement wood pieces. The steel hardware looks to be very nice except for the right hand tailgate latch. As you can see in the last photo, the rear part of the latch is broken off so a replacement latch part with have to be fabricated. This box is located at the home ranch 225 miles away so I can't just walk over and measure it. It is approximately the size of a stock factory built Model T Ford pickup box from 1925 through 1927. The hardware from this very interesting box can be used to build a wood pickup box for use on the back of any automobile from the 1930's or earlier that has a cut off body. I have a lot of friend's in the collectible car, truck, tractor, toy and sign hobbies who travel throughout this country and Canada. They might be able to safely deliver this box to you depending on where you live and how soon you want it. Thanks a lot, Bob Woodburn - phone 406-799-1847 in Bozeman Montana USA |

BMW seared into consumer minds: New ad technology takes ‘branding' to another level
Wed, 22 Dec 2010How about this for subtlety in advertising? BMW is using flashing lights to “burn” its initials into your brain so that when you close your eyes, you'll continue to see the Bavarian company's brand. Which begs the question: Is there a better way to remember a company than to have a light-induced seizure episode?

First Sight: Fenomenon Stratos
Tue, 01 Mar 2005The Geneva Show sees a surprising newcomer to its stands in the shape of Fenomemon Ltd and their concept Stratos project. This new London-based vehicle design agency is led by a current student on the Royal College of Art's Vehicle Design course, Chris Hrabalek, who has masterminded a complete full-size mockup of a reborn Lancia Stratos concept for this year's Geneva Show. In a world where multinational companies spend several million dollars on a concept car and stand, that's a phenomenal achievement.
