Nissan GT Academy winners too fast for British GT
Thu, 21 Feb 2013For those who say that video-game skills can't translate into real life, we'd like to point you to the case of Nissan GT Academy Team RJN versus the officials of the British GT Championship. The Nissan team was deemed too fast to compete in the national Pro-Am category. In 2012, Nissan GT Academy champion Jann Mardenborough entered the British GT Championship as an amateur with Alex Buncombe as the pro in a Nissan GT-R Nismo GT3.
Marvel’s Captain America car by Daniel Simon [w/Video]
Tue, 04 Sep 2012Automotive designer and futurist Daniel Simon has had his vehicle design from ‘Captain America: The First Avenger' featured in a short animation. This 10-wheeler 1942 supercharged V16 Coupe, the personal car of Marvel's villain Johann Schmidt (the Red Skull), is 7,620 mm long and was inspired by cars such as Mercedes' 540K and the G4. The director's instructions for the car's size led to a truck chassis having to be used for the practical film version.
London Congestion Charge: Buy 76-100g/km car NOW to get 3 years free of charge
Mon, 29 Apr 2013Whether you think the London Congestion Charging Zone is a great way to clean up the air quality of the capital or just another way to tax motorists, you’re going to struggle even more to avoid it after the emission exemption levels are changed on 1st July so only cars emitting 75g/km CO2 or less will be exempt from the charge, Boris says the new lower level is necessary because car makers have worked their socks off to produce small diesel cars with the ability to hit the magic sub 100g/km emissions level in recent years, and that means London is suffering from air pollution as a result. The only answer, apparently, is to drop the limit to 75g/km or less to make those ‘dirty’ diesels pay their way. By reducing the limit to 75g/km you are effectively only allowing EVs and Plug-ins an exemption from congestion charging, thereby moving their emissions off to wherever the electricity they use is produced.
