For auction is (1) connecting rod and piston assembly from a c1925 American LaFrance Type 12 engine. Standard size piston, no cracks. Assembly will require rebuilding before use; re-babbiting, new rings, and ring shims. Part number on connecting rod is 12E-3605R-L, piston is 12E-3617. Center distance is 14". Note this assembly is for the later Type 12 engine cylinders with round water domes. The connecting rod and piston are too long for the shorter cylinders with the oval water dome. TRAINS were cancelled after a taxi carrying the ticket conductors broke down on the way to the station - and health and safety policy bans them walking. London Midland yesterday told passengers it was cancelling two of its services from Birmingham New Street station in the city centre after the breakdown happened during what is usually a short journey by foot from nearby Snow Hill station. However, the rail operator has said its own safety policy bars the uniformed conductors from getting to the station on foot because they are carrying their ticket machines and cash from the days' takings.
