E3: Defending the Earth, one zombie at a time
Wed, 08 Jun 2011If drooling space-alien mutants hell-bent on creating a pleasure planet of intergalactic zombie love muffins ever come to Earth to steal our women, know that an entire generation of 18-to-24-year-old male gamers stands ready to defend us. So rest assured. We know this because we just spent most of a day at the opening of the Electronic Entertainment Expo, or E3 as it's known to those who stand ready with the chainsaws, bazookas and various industrial-strength bug zappers that will be needed should the inevitable happen.
Saab Museum cars for sale
Tue, 17 Jan 2012Saab Museum Cars up for grabs The bankruptcy of Saab has resulted in the entire Saab Museum collection of 120 cars being offered for sale by the liquidators. The final demise of Saab has meant much heartache for Saab’s employees, and lovers of the marque around the world, as more than 60 years of Saab’s history is consigned to the remnants bin – and that even includes Saab’s museum collection of cars, chronicling the history of Saab from 1946 to date. But Saab fans with deep pockets – or one fan with very deep pockets – now have the chance to grab a slice of Saab’s history, as the entire Saab Heritage collection has been put up for sale by lawyers acting for the liquidators.
Design Contest: Michelin Challenge Design announces 2008 theme and call for entries
Tue, 30 Jan 2007Michelin Challenge Design, one of the world's fastest growing transportation design programs, has announced it will continue its focus on safety in 2008 under the central theme of 'Safety over Size.' The 2008 theme was announced at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, where the Michelin Challenge Design exhibit showcased works from vehicle manufacturers, students, as well as the first full-size concept to be submitted by an independent entrant. Rising energy costs, urban congestion and environmental concerns are all contributing to an increased interest in smaller vehicles, but consumers are often hesitant to consider smaller vehicles due to safety concerns that are both real and perceived. Participating designers are encouraged to 'throw away the book' and to present ideas that enhance the real and perceived safety and security of smaller vehicles through design innovations in areas such as accident avoidance, enhanced driver controls, survivability and visibility.
