BAC Mono wins Supercar Class at Cholmondeley

The BAC Mono has won the Supercar Class at the 2012 Cholmondeley Pageant of Power, just a year from the Mono’s launch and in its first competitive event. The cynical might have imagined that the debut of the BAC Mono as yet another racer for the road from a  company most have never heard of would be another two minute wonder – loads of promise and little reality. BMW has revealed a radical new concept set to be unveiled at the forthcoming Frankfurt motor show. Dubbed Vision EfficientDynamics, the vehicle is a showcase for the German automaker's new lightweight technologies and material adaptations. The prototype features a series of layered, flowing design elements which come together to create a lightweight vision for the future: a performance-oriented model created to not only conjure up emotion but to also epitomize BMW's 'EfficientDynamics' technologies.

That means a simplified lineup for the new Mondeo and the introduction of a cheaper entry-level model – the Mondeo Graphite – and a new model at the top end – the Titanium X Business Edition – with more equipment and a lower price. The Mondeo Graphite comes with 17″ alloys, sports suspension, Bluetooth, AirCon and part leather and starts at £15,995 – more than £2k cheaper than the former entry-level Mondeo Edge. At the other end of the scale, Ford are introducing the Titanium X Business Edition which replaces both the Titanium and Titanium X, gets more equipment than the Titanium X and yet costs £1500 less.
