The charismatic Finn will be at the famous Goodwood event as part of a wider celebration of motorsport heritage in conjunction with the Festival of Speed’s recently-announced chief sponsor, Shell. Nearly 1.7 million aggrieved motorists have signed the petition since it was launched by Downing Street last November – firmly rejecting Government plans to charge drivers up to £1.34 a mile at peak times.The petition, which closes at midnight on Wednesday (00.00 GMT) proved so popular that it has caused the Downing Street website to crash. And prime minister Tony Blair has vowed to send an email to everyone who signed the petition, justifying Government plans to launch road tolls as the only solution for chronic congestion problems.CAR Online’s take on all this?
Lewis Hamilton takes pole in Hungarian Grand Prix
Sat, 27 Jul 2013Lewis Hamilton (pictured centre) takes pole in the 2013 Hungarian F1 ahead of Vettel (L) & Grosjean Sebastian Vettel had looked the man in form, and most likely to take pole position for tomorrow’s Hungarian Grand Prix, but L:ewis Hamilton surprised him – and surprised himself – with a stunning final lap in the last moments of final qualifying. Hamilton’s storming lap beat Vettel in to second place and was stunned to be told on the radio he was in P1. “Is that pole?”, said a surprised Hamilton, before whooping with glee.
