Renault Megane Sport Tourer Extreme launched
Mon, 30 Nov 2009Renault has introduced a new entry-level Megane Estate - the Renault Megane Sport Tourer Extreme It sounds as if a Renault Megane Sport Tourer Extreme should be a rival for a Renaultsport, but it’s not. It’s the new entry-level package on the Megane Sport Tourer. But there’s nothing wrong with that, even if the ‘Extreme’ designation is a bit of an oxymoron (unless you think of it in terms of at the bottom extreme of the range).
Peugeot 2008 DKR heading for the Dakar Rally. Not that it looks much like a 2008
Tue, 15 Apr 2014The Peugeot 2008 DKR (pictured) is heading for the Dakar Rally After steering clear of the Dakar Rally for a quarter of a century, Peugeot is back in the endurance rally game with the Peugeot 2008 DKR, a rally car that shares its name with Peugeot’s 2008 Crossover – but little else. Instead of the almost cutesy looks of the 2008, the 2008 DKR gets looks that could have come from Mad Max with a sinister-looking black paint job, just two doors, short overhangs for better obstacle negotiation, 37″ off-road tyres and a thumping great wing at the back. Unlike most cars that tackle the Dakar, Peugeot has decided that rear-wheel-drive is the way to go as it allows for bigger wheels and more suspension travel, rather than the four-wheel-drive preferred by the majority of entrants.
Toyota powering its US headquarters with Hydrogen Fuel Cell
Fri, 02 May 2014Toyota’s Hydrogen Fuel Cell power supply at their US HQ It’s been a pipe dream for a long time; harness the planet’s plentiful supplies of hydrogen to produce power. That’s getting a lot closer with a number of hydrogen fuel cell cars coming to the real car market in the next few years, and no doubt as part of their mission to convince the world that hydrogen is the future, Toyota are demonstrating the potential by using a hydrogen fuel cell to produce power at their US HQ. Toyota has installed a 1.1 megawatt stationary fuel cell at its Los Angeles HQ which is capable of producing half its power needs during the heavy-load summer period.
