Majestic Bentley to be auctioned for charity

A SUPREMELY elegant 1987 Bentley 8 is to be auctioned for charity as part of a sale including more than 150 cars. The majestic Bentley will take its place amongst the myriad other fine classic cars at the Historics at Brooklands auction in Surrey on Saturday, June 7, following the sad news of the death of the car’s current owner’s sister. Significantly, this much-loved and well-travelled Bentley – presented in fine condition inside and out – is offered at no reserve, with all proceeds from the sale donated to charity at the request of the vendor, plus Historics’ sellers and buyers’ commissions.

Jaguar to end XK production after 18 years

Jaguar will this summer cease production of the XK 2+2 GT car after 18 years at the top of the Coventry firm’s model range. The decision to stop making the XK comes after the hugely successful launch of the F-Type – which, say analysts, has led to a big fall in XK sales as thousands of buyers queues up to buy the F-Type. Chrysler said on Thursday that it will release its owner’s manuals as smartphone apps. This is in addition to replacing its hard-copy owner’s manuals with DVDs and small quick-reference guides, something it did last year. The first iPhone manual will be available on June 19, for the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
