Polyurethane Brake Bleeder Valve Caps.

Set Of Eight.

Color: Black.

These are a reproduction of the bleeder valve caps supplied with the Speed Bleeders brand brake bleeder valves.  However, these bleeder valve caps are made out of 75 durometer polyurethane, instead of synthetic rubber.  Polyurethane is much more durable and resistant to chemicals, salt, sunlight, oil, gasoline, etc., so these last many times longer than synthetic rubber caps.

There appears to be one size to these.  The opening is .185 inches in diameter, and they are meant to fit bleed valves with a .22-.30 inch diameter nipple.  There are ridges cast into the inside of the cap to keep it from slipping off the bleeder valve nipple.

These valve caps are available in Black, Red, Yellow, Blue, and Green.  Please check the item description for the correct color.

The Story Behind This Item

I love Speed Bleeder brand brake bleeder valves and use them on all my vehicles.  However, the little rubber cap that they provide with the bleeder valves rots and falls apart in a very short time.  When the boot decays and falls off, the speed bleeder valve fills up with water (and road salt), rusts, and stops working as a bleeder valve.  Every Spring, I found that half the caps were gone and the other half rotted to the point that they were close to falling off.  Half the valves were rusted solid.  So every year I had to replace half the Speed Bleeders on each of my cars.  In 2009, I started using four pot Wilwood calipers on all four corners, so I was looking at replacing four of the eight Speed Bleeder valves on the car in the Spring, instead of the normal two.  The Speed Bleeder people were not exactly responsive when I contacted them about the poor quality of the caps they supply with their valves, but were happy to sell me more valves.  I could not find much available in bleeder valve caps, and decided to make them myself, out of polyurethane, and offer them to others who are looking for high quality caps to protect the Speed Bleeders on their car's brake calipers.  I installed them on my vehicles in the Sring of 2010, and they show no sign of dry rot or decay like the rubber caps.  The polyurethane caps still look like new and fit snug just like the day they were installed.

What Do These Fit?

The opening is .185 inches in diameter, and they are meant to fit bleed valves with a .22-.30 inch diameter nipple.  This should be just about every brake caliper commonly used on cars, trucks, motorcycles, etc.  If in doubt, measure the nipple diameter on your bleed valve.

These may also be useful for hydraulic clutch bleeder valves.
