Condition:Used Brand:GM Warranty:No Manufacturer Part Number:458428

I am listing for sale a Pontiac 455 engine that was in my 1967 GTO when I bought it.  I am taking the car back to its original stock configuration; therefore, I no longer need it.  I am asking $2,495 or best offer.

The casting number is 458428 and the application code is YW.  The casting date is December 5, 1973.  The 6x-4 heads are from June 4 & June 8, 1976.

It runs great, no smoke, no leaks.  It was rebuilt some years back using quality parts, such as TRW forged flat top pistons and according to the previous owner it was bored to 467 cubic inches (.040), made 450 HP and 560 ft lb of torque on the dyno.  Unsure of mileage or exactly when the last rebuild took place; therefore, beyond knowing for a fact that the block/heads are good with no cracks, I cannot make any warranties beyond that.  Engine has been out of car for a few months in a climate controlled garage.

Selling as a long block.  Carb to oil pan.  Includes stock alternator, water pump & starter (not chrome ones pictured), HEI distributor and power steering pump.  Heads are 6x-4  Intake manifold is an Edelbrock Performer Series dual plane high rise and the carburetor is an Edelbrock Thunder Series AVS 800 cfm w/manual choke and was purchased brand new from Summit about a year ago.  All that's missing from it are the spark plug wires. You can freshen it up, rebuild it or drop it in as is, That's up to you.

Prefer local pickup, but I am willing to ship, but all shipping expenses and arrangements must be made and paid for by you.  The shipping company will have to crate it and/or put it on a pallet.  If I have to take it there it will be an extra $150.

If you live within a reasonable driving distance (150 miles) AND have an engine hoist, I am willing to deliver the engine to you for $150.

REASONABLE offers considered.

No returns please.

Thanks for looking.

Infiniti Emerg-E: Geneva 2012

Tue, 06 Mar 2012

Infiniti Emerg-E arrives at Geneva The Infiniti Emerg-E has been revealed at Geneva 2012 with 402bhp from a pair of electric motors and a range-extender engine. The Infiniti Emerg-E, which has been revealed today at the Geneva Motor Show, looks to be a properly promising supercar from Infiniti, and utilises the expensive range-extender technology to produce a stunning-looking car with proper performance potential. Power for the Emerg-E comes from a pair of electric motors powering the back wheels with a combined output of 402bhp and is capable, say Infiniti, of up to 300 miles between charge thanks to its 1.2 litre 3-pot range extending engine (which comes from Lotus) and up to 30 miles on EV power.

Unlike the 8C-based TZ3 Corsa, the new Stradale will be based on a Dodge Viper ACR platform and V10 drivetrain, making it the 'first American Alfa Romeo' according to Zagato. The car is said to be a tribute to Alfa Romeo and Zagato's street legal heritage, and continues the line of cars that ended with the S.Z.

Why this year's UAW-Detroit 3 talks don't matter

Thu, 08 Sep 2011

Here's what you need to know about the current UAW contract talks with the Detroit 3: They don't really matter. Oh, sure, agreements must be reached and contracts signed. But some commentators would have you believe the Detroit 3's future competitiveness hinges on their ability to stand up to the UAW in this year's negotiations.
