Listed is a true 1975 Pontiac 455 - (462) cubic inch engine with 2 Bolt mains with Arp Main Studs, Arp Head and Connecting Rod bolts, Ready to Ship.


This Pump Gas Engine (89 Octane) with its tremendous HP and Torque is the perfect fit for those looking to improve the performance of there classic Pontiac.

HP rating 502 and 557 ft. pounds of torque with 10.25 to 1 compression ratio.

The block code is Y8, casting #500813 Date code G165 or July 16, 1975.

The heads are Kauffman Aluminum D-port heads 85cc chambers with no port work.

The Intake manifold is a Pro Comp 4bbl NON EGR  Aluminum Intake manifold.

The block has been baked, blasted and magnifluxed with no cracks or problems, the block was bored .030 oversize using Icon forged Racing Pistons and Hasting chrome molly Racing rings.

The Crankshaft has been ground and polished .010 on mains & rods.

Crankshaft journal Oil passages were chamfered . (see pics)

Connecting rods are RPM Forged H-Beam with floating Pin and Arp 8740 rod bolts. ( These are Premium 800 HP H Beam rods Not I Beam see pics)

The engine rotating assembly has been balanced. (See balance card pics for specs.)

The Heads are Kauffman D-Port 85cc combustion chamber heads with NO port work. Go to kre for specs.

The heads use 7/16 Arp rocker studs.

Heads feature Comp Cam 1.65 roller tip rockers with locking nut.

New Hardened Comp Cams push rods .080 wall thickness.

Engine assembled using Clevite Bearings, Durabond Cam bearings , Felpro Gaskets, Melling High vol. oil pump, Comp Cams Double roller timing chain & gears, Melling Hyd lifters, and cast iron water pump.

Cam specs. 
INT/EXH - Dur @ .050” 231°/240°  Valve Lift- Int. Exh. .513    Cam characteristics at idle slight lope.

Vacuum is -12 inches, good for AC and Power brakes.

Prior to assembly all oil galleys in block and crank were brushed clean and flushed.

Cam and assembly lube used during engine assembly.

Cam has been degreed using a degree wheel and all cam specs Verified.  

Cam has been setup with Intake lobe center @ 108 degrees.

Engine Features a Professional products Harmonic balancer. 

All engine clearances have been checked and verified (rods, mains, pistons).

Prior to assembly all oil galleys in block and crank were brushed clean and flushed. 

Engine has been primed with oil.

This Engine has been rebuilt with premium parts, With New AC valley pan grommet and PCV valve.

All internal & external parts have been hot tanked & bead blasted ( Oil filter housing, Timing chain cover Ect…)

Engine comes as pictured with new chrome valve covers. (stock height)

New Pontiac stainless steel dip stick tube and dip stick.

New AC oil filter, New NGK spark plugs and Melling Brass freeze plugs.

This 455 is suitable for either automatic or manual trans applications.

Also pictured is the 5 motor mount bolt holes allowing it to be installed in any GM  A,B,F, G and X body styles from 1964-1979.

But none of the cars tested could manage more than three stars for pedestrian protection. Daihatsu's Materia supermini and, surprisingly, the Honda Civic trailed the pack with only four stars for occupant safety, but the Merc C-class, Renault Laguna, Volvo V70 and – impressively – the tiny Mazda 2 all came out with the top score.
