Popup Camper Replacement Canvas Patch Material Pop Up on 2040-parts.com
Monroe, Connecticut, US
_________________________________________________________________ In this auction - a single, 4 inch x 4 inch patch - gray material - many other sizes available - and tan - just ask! Hi – have a pop-up camper with damaged canvas? Opened your camper up after winter storage and found some critters had been in there during the off-season? Have you had an unfortunate accident while putting your canvas away in the last rain storm? Holes, rips, tears ... ? Well – I really, really hope that you are not in any of these positions. But, if you are, and you are looking to repair your camper canvas yourself – I can supply the material and the know-how that you need and most importantly, my material will match your original canvas' gray color and texture. My Story At the beginning of my story, I embarked on a mission to restore a 20 Year Old Coleman Pop-up camper. Most of the mechanical stuff was still in great shape - the real problems were holes in the canvas. The camper had been stored outside over one winter and some critters got in and just did a lot of mischief that left me with several small to medium sized holes to contend with. I thought that would be easy for a canvas repair shop to take care of, but I quickly discovered that most shops don't want to be bothered with something this small. And the one or two that said they might take a look cautioned me that it would be pretty costly. The cost of replacing the entire cavas for new was well over $1,000. What I did instead is I found identical canvas material (it's actually a specialty fabric) to that used by Coleman (and many other camper manufacturers) and repaired the holes myself! The replacement fabric has the same UV resistance and breathability as the OEM canvas does. Take note that these repairs were done by me at my kitchen table using my wife's sewing machine (no special or industrial grade equipment needed) - and, I have no prior experience or skills using a sewing machine - I just thought about it and said, "how hard could it really be?" It turned out that if you take your time, it's actually not so hard. I ended up patching holes, replacing screens, repairing rubber inserts – you name it, I probably did it. In addition to sharing the good news that you can actually repair your own camper canvas, I am making available replacement canvas material for sale. What I am offering are patches, cut to your nominal specifications, that you would then apply to your existing canvas. The material is just as you see it in the sample picture. I am limited on EBay as to how many pictures I can post (they charge me for extras) and I'm not supposed to link directly to my website. So, for more information about this auction, including pictures of actual finished repairs using the patches offered for sale here, contact me through EBay (or, find me online on your own) - happy to share. My prices are as follows: Every EBay order has a $2.50 charge that shows as shipping. This is actually just a random number that seems to work to make most patch sizes worth my while. Standard size patch is 4 x 4 inch square, or 16 square inches. The cost of this patch is $4 each, including shipping. Assuming you only need this single patch, the total order will cost you $6.50. I can also accomodate patch sizes that are larger than the standard size (perhaps you have a larger hole or would like additional material for multiple patches). Pricing for non-standard sizes are $.25 per square inch, including the cost of shipping. You will need to specify the L x W of your patches when asking me to post something on EBay for you. Here's how an auction for a different size might price out: A 6 x 8 inch patch (48 square inches) would cost: $.25 x 48 = $12.00 plus $2.50 = $14.50 total cost For auctions where the material cost is above $30, I discount the amount above $30 by ~20% - this will already be reflected in the listing price, to keep it simple. This is a just a way to make things more affordable. Contact me for more details. I am often asked if I can do better on my pricing for really large orders - I regulary sell to customers who need $100 or more worth of patch repairs plus other materials I carry - the answer is that I handle those questions through my website and email sales only, not on EBay - why? because EBay is just too expensive (they charge me 10%+ for auctions - which does not leave me much room to work on price). For other tips or to answer any questions you might have concerning your repair project (I'll do the best I can - but, of course, every repair is unique), feel free to drop me an email. I learned a lot during my project and over the years since then and will freely share what I know. Every order comes with detailed installation instructions and how-to tips/techniques - just ask! Note that EBay allows Buyers to do as they like in communications with Sellers, but as a Seller, they do not allow me to share with you my e/mail address - I personally would give you mine if I could so you can chat with me easier and share pictures, etc. - I'd also give you my website that has pictures and descriptions - but, again - EBay wants you to find those things online on your own - sorry. If you are ready to place an order, great - or, for more information, contact me. I have many satisfied customers, and it would be my pleasure to coach you through your repair project! Thanks! New Routemaster bus hits London streets
Mon, 27 Feb 2012The very first new Routemaster hybrid bus began its first day of service in London today. The bus, whose exterior and interior were designed by Londoner Thomas Heatherwick, retains the distinct character of the old Routemaster – British as the London taxi and red telephone boxes – but is far more modern in its design and construction. The new Routemaster's main design features are its three sets of doors and two staircases, which it is hoped will ease the strain during rush hour in regards to alighting and entering the bus.
Worrying insurance fraud trends revealed
Fri, 16 May 2014AS MANY as two million motorists could be jeopardising their insurance by listing themselves as the main driver on a car that someone else covers more mileage in. The process, known as ‘fronting’, secures a cheaper insurance quote for the real main driver, who in many cases is young or has less no-claims discount, but it is illegal and could completely invalidate the policy and leave the drivers vulnerable to prosecution. Research from Privilege car insurance has revealed not only that the two million drivers could be risking more than they imagine, but also that around one million motorists are named as the main driver on insurance policies for cars they have never even driven at all.
Photos reveal the all-new Ford Mustang -- of 1979
Fri, 28 Mar 2014If you need further proof that everything old is new again, just look at the engine options for the upcoming 2015 Ford Mustang. That optional 2.3-liter turbocharged inline-four is generating a lot of buzz; it's expected to help keep the car sporty while cutting down on fuel consumption, and it's going to help the Mustang make headway in overseas markets. Adding a turbo-four to the pony car equation isn't exactly novel: The Blue Oval put a forced-induction motor with the same cylinder count, configuration and displacement in the 1979 Mustang.
