I have for sale a Porsche 356 orange-bar hood crest.  Funnily enough, this was installed on the one of the sail panels of my old Porsche 914.  When I restored the car, I took the emblem off, but I kept it with the hopes of doing something with it.  Anyway, time has passed, and I have never done anything with it.  From my research, I believe that this is a reproduction crest.  I have an original orange-bar crest that came off the other side of the 914, and it is distinctly different (also for sale on E-bay).  The orange bars in that crest are very orange, with no pebbling beneath it.  This badge is definitely red, with pebbling in the stripes.  You can verify this in my pictures.  It is about 1 5/8" by 1 1/8".  However, I do think that this is an old reproduction.  I truly believe it was made in the early-to-late '70s.  .

It has a beautiful patina, and there is no damage to the crest.  None of the paint is chipped.  The mounting stud is still in great shape.  Those of you that know these cars know how odd it looks to see a fresh, shiny reproduction badge on a 60-year old car.  This badge is old enough to have the right patina, but not so old that the price would be out of reach.  It still looks very appropriate.

Please know that, as always, you are buying this emblem as is, where is, with no warranty expressed or implied.  Thanks for looking!

Ford tests electric-vehicle sounds on Facebook

Mon, 11 Jul 2011

Sure, if it were up to us, every car would sound like a Lamborghini Aventador or a McLaren Formula One race car. And while those specific options aren't available (yet),Ford is using its Facebook page to let fans vote on sounds to be made by the electric Focus. Since EVs are so quiet, Ford needs to give the Focus electric some sound for safety's sake--to draw the attention of people who are blind people, those using cell phones or iPods and even for animals.

Drivers 'concerned at lack of goodwill'

Fri, 03 Jan 2014

MOTORISTS have been left concerned at the lack of goodwill among other drivers during this festive period, according to research from Halfords Autocentres. The levels of ‘aggressive, impatient and inconsiderate’ driving increase at this time of year, according to the survey of an unspecified number of car owners. Nearly a quarter (23%) of respondents said that things like lane hogging, failing to indicate properly - or at all - and not letting other motorists out at junctions was a real problem at this time of year.
