Convertible top drive shafts w/ gears removed from 1996 Porsche 993 in excellent working condition - not just another junk part removed from a junk car! These drive shafts are coming from my personal vehicle with less than 50,000 miles on the clock. I hardly ever drive the car and some people would consider my car a perfect example of a garage queen. Just to give you the idea...
Here is what happened - sometimes early this year my convertible top started to act abnormal - it didn't close and lock automatically, the alignment was off and, in an effort to fix this issue,I realigned the top several times. The alignments didn't last and I decided to bite the bullet and order new drive shafts from Porsche at a cost of approx. $635 (YES, they are very expensive!) for the pair. What normally happens on those 993 P-cars is that the drive shafts start to shorten over time and I figured that this is what's causing the problem.
During the install I found the true culprit for this issue - one transmission had come loose (one bolt was stripped) which in turn caused the alignment issues. At this point in time I decided to go ahead with the repair since I already had replaced the drive shaft on the left side.
I truly believe these drive shafts are still perfectly fine and wouldn't hesitate to even sell them to a friend. Please take a look at the included pictures - one picture depicts the amount of "shaft protrusion" or "overhang". One shaft measures right a 10 mm, the other shaft 11 mm. I did compare one of the old drive shafts to the new drive shaft and didn't really see much of a difference. That's why I believe the shafts are still in a very useable condition!

Mercedes B55 (2011) - a ballistic V8 B-class
Fri, 31 Dec 2010Mercedes' tuning arm AMG has not yet ventured into sensible B-class territory, but a bunch of Merc trainees in Germany has come up with this: the B55. It's a V8-powered B-class, complete with AMG-spec 383bhp 5.5-litre V8 mounted up front and driving an old W210 E-class rear axle. Sounds like a promising skunkworks special, derived from an old B200 CDI hack that was kicking about the training centre.
Paolo Pininfarina elected Chairman at Pininfarina SpA

The Board of Directors agreed to assign authority over the Group's design operations and Pininfarina Extra to Paolo Pininfarina and also elected to hand over the Group's communications to his sister Lorenza Pininfarina, the Provisional Deputy Chairperson. There has been much speculation about the company's future following the untimely death of CEO Andrea Pininfarina in a traffic accident last week.
