Mercedes CLA driving Mercedes-Benz new car sales
Sun, 15 Dec 2013New Mercedes CLA (pictured) is driving Mercedes-Benz new car sales Mercedes had a rocky road a few years ago as it changed its focus from quality to cost-cutting, so the decision by Mercedes to move in to more compact premium cars in a serious way can’t have been the easiest decision to make regardless of the rising demand for compact premium cars. But Mercedes decision and investment is now starting to reap big rewards as Mercedes start moving from an investment in to a sales cycle, with sales of their new compact cars – the new A-Class and new CLA – proving to be a real driving force. Mercedes is the UK has made all time record sales in the UK in 2013, reaching 100,000 car sales for the first time in a year, and managing that by the end of November (which in itself was the best November Mercedes had ever had in the UK).
New Mercedes A Class: 90,000 orders and counting
Thu, 15 Nov 2012Mercedes boss Dieter Zetsche has revealed that Mercedes already has 90,000 orders for the new A-Class just months after its reveal. It’s a credible, good looking and clever car that’s a serious offering in the premium compact market and, if the order book for 70,000 A-Class Mercedes already had by the end of October is anything to go by, it’s going to be a roaring success. That sales figure has now jumped to 90,000 A-Class – according to Mercedes boss, Dieter Zetsche – and stands at double the order book Volkswagen has for the new MK 7 Golf.
Car Design of the Year Awards 2007
Tue, 11 Mar 2008This year there was a close battle between the BMW Concept CS and the Mazda Taiki, with only 7 percent of votes between them finally. In the end, over 51 percent of readers awarded the BMW a top three ranking. However, this also represents an excellent and consistent result for Citroën, who came second last year with the C-Metisse, and for Mazda, who previously came third with the Ryuga concept.
