Update: Hyundai releases statement on Calif. lawsuit

Tue, 10 Jul 2012

UPDATE: Hyundai Motor America contacted Autoweek on Wednesday with a statement in regard to the case: Hyundai Motor America believes this case has no merit, as our advertising is accurate and in full compliance with applicable laws and regulations. In fact, we've reviewed our ads and think Consumer Watchdog and their client are dead wrong. A group called Consumer Watchdog announced that it is suing Hyundai on behalf of drivers who purchased 2011 and 2012 Elantras based on claims that Hyundai made in its advertising for the Elantra.

Predictably, teenagers who had recently passed their test were most likely to crash or experience a near-miss as a result of being distracted, according to US researchers.

Mercedes-Benz introduces nine-speed automatic gearbox

Mon, 22 Jul 2013

Mercedes-Benz has quietly slipped a new nine-speed automatic into its lineup as standard equipment on the European market E350 BlueTec. However, its existence was officially denied until the weekend, when Mercedes-Benz's German language website configurator went live with various updates for the E-class lineup -- including an entry signaling the 9G-Tronic is now available on the standard rear-wheel drive E350 BlueTec in place of the older seven-speed.
