Aston Martin wants the Le Mans title

Aston Martin will challenge for the overall Le Mans Champion in 2009 Aston Martin won the overall title in 1959 – 50 years ago with the DBR1 driven by Caroll Shelby – and are aiming to bring the title back to the UK with the new car, which is based on the 2008 Charouz Racing System Lola, and powered by the same V12 engine seen in the title winning DBR9s of the last two years. The car will carry the famous Gulf Oil colours, and is being funded in partnership with Lola, Michelin, Koni and BBS. And this is a good time to pick to challenge for the title.

Porsche 911 GT3s to be given new engines after fire issue

The Porsche 911 GT3 (pictured) is getting a new engine Last month, after two new Porsche 911 GT3s caught fire, Porsche stopped delivering new 911 GT3s to owners, halted production and advised owners not to drive their new pride and joy. But now Porsche say they have discovered the cause of the issue and have a fix – a new engine. The fault that caused the fires is as simple as faulty connecting rod fasteners which damaged the crankcase, so Porsche is in the process of building new engines for all 785 GT3s already made with new connecting rod fasteners.

New Subaru WRX STI aiming for a new Isle of Man TT lap record

The new Subaru WRX STI (pictured) is heading to the IoM Three years ago rally driver Mark Higgins went off to the Isle of Man with the last generation Subaru WRX STI and set a new record for a car round the TT course. And he’s about to attempt to beat that record in the new WRX STI. The current record round the challenging TT course is 19m 56.7 seconds – at an average speed of 115mph – a truly astonishing pace for a standard road car on a difficult and challenging road course.
