1975 JC Whitney catalog: A bonanza of aftermarket Volkswagen goodies
Fri, 11 Apr 2014Back before there was the Internet, or even big car-parts chain stores, there was the JC Whitney catalog. Printed on cheap, pulpy paper and featuring tens of thousands of tiny, hand-drawn illustrations, these thick books gave me many hours of enjoyment in the early 1980s, as I fantasized about how I'd modify my incredibly sketchy and hooptified '58 Beetle. Jaguar F-type prototype (2013): the testing videos
Thu, 05 Apr 2012As Jaguar confirmed its new F-type sports car at the 2012 New York auto show, it issued some teaser video footage of the new £55,000 roadster landing in showrooms in spring 2013. We can safely ignore the hyperbole poring forth ('It's responsive, it's a great car to drive') but it's a good chance to see the all-aluminium F-type in action.
Ellesmere Port Celebrates Five Decades Of Production
Mon, 09 Jun 2014VAUXHALL recently celebrated 50 years of production at its Ellesmere Port facility by recreating the original 1964 press image of the first vehicle coming off the line, in the same production location with today’s Astra alongside. The first new car to be produced at Ellesmere Port was a Vauxhall Viva HA, a model name that would run in a number of variants until 1978, when it was replaced by the Chevette. The Viva cost £527 7s 11d at launch.
