Flavio Briatore is launching legal action to get his lifetime ban overturned
Flavio Briatore will start legal proceedings in the Paris Tribunal de Grande tomorrow in an attempt to overturn the lifetime ban he received from the FIA for his part in the ‘Singapore-Gate’ race fixing episode, which saw Nelson Piquet Jnr intentionally crashing his car to allow team mate Fernando Alonso to take victory in the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix. Briatore is claiming the life time ban from involvement in any FIA sanctioned Motor Sport – including driver management – is a legal absurdity. And he probably has a point.

A million extra speeding tickets are being dished out every year compared with when Labour first came to power in 1997, the Opposition claimed this week. The Conservatives have published figures proving that the number of speeding fines has leaped from 712,753 in 1997 to 1,773,412 in 2006. The shocking stats include fines given to motorists caught on camera as well as those stopped at the roadside by traffic police.

The BMW museum is playing host to a special exhibition entitled ‘The Line of Beauty', which takes a trip through the history of the ‘big' BMW coupes and convertibles. The flagship BMW coupes and convertibles have an illustrious past and most are icons in their own right. The exhibition features 14 individual exhibits that span from the pre-war 327 and 327/28 Convertible and Coupe through to the current F12/13 6-Series.
