German car makers are dropping big engines
Sat, 29 Nov 2008[ad#ad-1] It’s the trend at the moment, and one that won’t go down very well with our American cousins, who are fond of saying that ‘There ain’t no substitute for cubic inches’, as the three big luxury German Car Companies – Audi BMW and Mercedes – are planning to move away from their big ‘V’ engines. BMW V10 - on the way out The news started last week, when Audi let it be known that their new S5 will not use the V8, but will instead use a supercharged V6. 2013 Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder revealed
Tue, 16 Oct 2012The 2013 Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder has been revealed, joining the 2013 Gallardo Coupe as the last facelift for the Gallardo range. Now we get the 2013 Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder – the open air Gallardo – with much the same minor tweaks to keep the Gallardo range fresh until we get its replacement. That means a bit of fiddling at the front and back for some sharper lines and a bigger outlet at the back to improve cooling for the Gallardo’s V10, which offers 560bhp and 0-62mph in 4 seconds, and the Gallardo LP560-4 Spyder gets a new set of polished alloys.
VL Destino revealed - what became of the Fisker Karma
Fri, 10 Jan 2014VL This is the new face of the Fisker Karma, the luxury plug-in hybrid whose parent company went to the wall last year. But it’s not only the Karma’s gap-toothed grin that’s disappeared: its plug-in hybrid powertrain has bitten the dust, too, replaced by a GM-sourced V8 – a supercharged lump boasting 638hp and 640lb ft. Called the VL Destino, the wilder Karma will be shown at this month’s North American International Auto Show, aka the Detroit Motor Show.
