Hartmut Warkuss to receive 2014 EyesOn Design Catalyst Award
Mon, 06 Jan 2014Hartmut Warkuss, former head of Volkswagen Design, will be awarded the 2014 Catalyst Award by EyesOn Design at next week's North American International Auto Show (NAIAS). Warkuss, who is credited with overseeing the design of the Bugatti Veyron, the VW Concept (new Beetle) and the Audi TT Concept, will be presented with the award by Peter Schreyer, Hyundai's president and chief design officer and the 2014 recipient of the EyesOn Design Lifetime Design Achievement Award. What makes EyesOn Design judging special?
Thu, 30 Apr 2009One of the very unique features of the EyesOn Design car show, held annually at the Edsel & Eleanor Ford House in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, is the judging of a category of cars by a group of visually impaired judges - members of the Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology's (DIO) adult support group. They meet monthly from September through June and, in early Spring, they are given a description of the various vehicle categories and a list of what cars will be in each of them. They then discuss their options and select a category that is of special interest to them.

But now, with the Tokyo Motor Show and the official debut of the BRZ (and the FT-86) looming, we have the first photo of the Subaru offering in the Toybaru project. Developed by Subaru and Toyota – with, it seems, Subaru doing the oily bits and Toyota the styling – the ‘affordable’ sports car from Japan does seem to be a tempting offering.
