Not only is the Leon SC cheaper than the Hatch, SEAT has gone to some trouble to differentiate the two with the SC getting a lower roofline, more steeply raked windscreen and new tailgate, as well as being 35mm shorter. Despite which the Leon SC still has decent leg and head room in the back and a boot that’s as big as the Leon hatch.

School run puts pressure on parents

PRESSURED PARENTS are often operating the school run in a rush, according to a survey. Many mothers and fathers worry about being late for work and have difficulty getting their children up in the mornings, the poll by insurance company Allianz showed. As many as 42% of parents said feeling rushed was their main school-run worry, while 20% got distracted while driving their offspring to school.

But what underpins the i3 is clever indeed, with a lightweight inner body made from carbon fibre and carbon fibre reinforced body panels providing the skin, all conspiring to make the i3 light – 1195kg, despite 25 per cent or so of that being batteries – and very rigid.
