But it was hard to get your head round the allegations being false, particularly as they were backed up by three-times world champion Piquet Snr. It’s one thing to indulge your offspring, but it’s hard to believe that Dad would back son unless he was convinced.

Not a catchy moniker perhaps, but the new car has been built to commemorate 15 years of the Caterham Driving Experience (CDX) – the track days where you can drift or slalom a Seven. As well as the gloss black paint, plus decals along the sides mimicking the CDX cars, the big news is the return of the K-series powerplant delivering 135bhp through a five-speed ‘box.

The first tease we had on the Lamborghini Jota was back in June when Lamborghini sent a photo of the bonnet of a car and the catchy (and let’s not forget, original) tag line ‘Coming Soon…’. That was followed up just over a week ago with another blindingly helpful photo of the Lamborghini Jota – this time of a tail light and a bit of carbon fibre.
