Holden will sell cars in Australia beyond 2017
Mon, 23 Dec 2013When we heard about Holden's plans to shutter its Australian plants after 2017, we didn't know quite what to think. The General Motors subsidiary was cagey when it came to details, claiming that the brand would remain a presence in Australia -- even maintaining its design office there. Oddly, we couldn't get anyone to say, in black-and-white terms, what vehicles would be sold there under the Holden name after its plants close.
Best Western Hotels rolling out EV charging points in the UK
Sun, 26 May 2013We’re electric car sceptics – or at least sceptical about their ability to replace the ICE car as our principal form of personal transport – although EVs do have their place as runarounds in urban areas, where their limited range isn’t really a factor. But taking your EV off for a weekend jaunt does pose logistical problems when the average range is probably no more than 80 miles, and something worth making the effort for a weekend away is almost always going to be further away than that. But a bit of smart marketing by Best Western Hotels – a group of 270 or so independently run hotels round the UK – means EV drivers will soon be able to plot their weekend away on the basis of Best Western Hotels en route, with Best Western planning on fitting EV charging points in their car parks, with half their hotels having free charging points by September.
Audi RS Q3 concept
Wed, 18 Apr 2012Audi is set to present its latest concept car, the RS Q3, at Auto China 2012. The concept has been developed around the theme of ‘dynamic performance', with Audi lowering its body by around 25mm as well as widening it with sharp detailing in an attempt to explore the potential of the Q3 model series. The concept's single frame grille is bordered by brushed and polished aluminum trim, while the black grille insert features honeycombs that are slightly offset to each other deeper inside to create a 3D effect.
