Czech Car Maker Offers A Vision Of Its Future
Fri, 28 Feb 2014SKODA has long since cast off its budget car image, but just in case you remain on the fence regarding the Czech firm’s premium market aspirations, it’s revealed a smart new concept car ahead of the Geneva Motor Show, called the VisionC. The five-door ‘coupe’ is said to be positioned in-between existing Octavia and Superb models, and has clearly been influenced by cars such as Audi’s A7 – another large, premium coupe-like model. As Skoda continues to grab a larger share of the market it’s also keen to steal buyers from existing firms selling ‘affordable premium’ models.
Audi A3 Clubsport Quattro concept (2014) first official pictures
Thu, 15 May 2014By Damion Smy First Official Pictures 15 May 2014 17:08 Audi has fired another salvo in the German power war with this: the 518bhp Audi A3 Clubsport Quattro concept. To be shown at the annual Worthersee show (which starts in Austria this week) the concept uses the 2.5-litre five-cylinder from the Audi TT RS and RS Q3 SUV. Officially, to show the A3’s ‘sportiness’, but it points to an RS3 saloon (we've already spied the hatch testing) as well as the next TT RS, which sits on the same platform.
VW Golf R (2013) at Frankfurt motor show
Tue, 20 Aug 2013The new VW Golf R has been revealed and it’s the fastest version of the iconic hatch ever. The all-wheel drive flagship Golf now has 296bhp, up from 267bhp, with its 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine and all-wheel drive sending the six-speed DSG version from 0-62mph in a feisty 4.9sec – matching the BMW M135i, but still shy of the Mercedes A45 AMG, which cracks it in 4.6sec. Why would I buy this over a Golf GTI?
