Detroit Autorama to host Golden Commandos and Ram Chargers drag-racing teams

Plenty of race-car drivers and automaker executives still remember the mantra, “Win on Sunday, sell on Monday.” The Golden Commandos and Ram Chargers, two drag-racing teams that embody that motto, will make an appearance at the Detroit Autorama at Cobo Center on March 8, from 1-2 p.m. According to Chrysler, this is the only time they have appeared together since competing on the strip in the late 1960s. The Golden Commandos group was started in 1962 by Chrysler technicians, mechanics and engineers who worked in Highland Park, Mich.

Despite reports to the contrary, it seems highly unlikely that Bentley will produce a road going version of the Continental GT3. The Continental GT3 is just a concept at the moment - although it will become a proper track car – but it has already had Autocar gazing in to its crystal ball to suggest that Bentley will be building a GT3 for the road, with a 700bhp W12 and 4WD, and will sell it in limited numbers. And it seems that’s a point Renault want to make very clear as they appear to be about to launch a short ‘Adventure’ film starring the Twin’Run, R5 and Clio out playing, just so we all know what the Twin’Run’s heritage is. But this is Renault – and they’re French, you know – so instead of recruiting a trio of boy racers to pilot the three hot hatches they’ve enlisted the skills of a trio of beautiful women.
