The RaceQuip 120 series multi-layer jacket is made up of an outer layer of durable Pyrovatex(R) FRC, backed by a layer of Nomex, then lined by another layer of Pyrovatex. Pyrovatex offers the maximum combination of overall flame and heat protection, durability and comfort for the price. This FRC material retains the softness and breathability of cotton and will wick away moisture from the skin. Pyrovatex fabric is gentle and non-irritating to even the most sensitive skin. The treatment process leaves the exterior surface shiny and supple. Since the Pyrovatex treatment is absorbed into the cotton fibers, with proper care; the garment will retain its flame retardant properties beyond the useful life of the garment.

All jackets are assembled with heavy-duty, multi-needle, over-lock safety stitch machines to provide exceptional seam strength. All jackets feature a high quality, heavy-duty two-way YKK zipper built on FR tape installed with a double overlap for a more secure front opening. Stylish contrasting armband stripes. The black accents: high-back collar, and arm cuffs, and epaulets give RaceQuip jackets a unique look and style. Add to this the pleated back panel for freedom of movement, wrist cuffs, and you have a multi-layer jacket that provides an outstanding value. Meets or exceeds SFI 3.2A/5 specs with a TPP rating of 25.

The safest suit for maximum fire protection is a loose fitting one.
A suit's fire protection capability is directly related to the fit of the garment. A properly fitted racing suit will have small air gaps in between the body and the garment. A suit worn too tightly will compress these air gaps- allowing heat to reach the skin faster.

An additional consideration should be the position the garment will be worn in. Specifically, the clamshell orientation of the driving position requires additional material in order to prevent tugging the wearer. This is especially important when wearing a one piece suit. A racing suit that fits well while standing may not fit comfortably when seated and harnessed into a racing seat. It is important to account for this when selecting a suit: ensure you are the lower end of the range for a particular size to ensure that there will be enough material to prevent the suit from tugging when seated.

Lego movie needs vehicle designers

Tue, 04 Sep 2012

Lego is giving its fans the chance to win $1,000 and see their own custom Lego vehicle designs on the big screen in ‘Lego: The Motion Picture'. There are no limitations on what kind of vehicles you can design, but the trick is that the vehicle you design must look like it was built from something else - a castle that was made into a racecar, a hot dog stand that was made into an airplane, for example. The Warner Brothers 3D CGI film will be directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller – director of '21 Jump Street' and ‘Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs' – and produced by Dan Lin (‘Sherlock Holmes') and ‘How to Train Your Dragon' producer Roy Lee.
