Porsche 911 RS models through the ages – on video
Fri, 26 Mar 2010By Tim Pollard First Official Pictures 26 March 2010 06:35 Porsche GB has issued a rather cool video detailing the history of the 911 RS models – filmed in situ at the new Porsche Experience Centre in Silverstone.Unlike most corporate videos, this one is remarkably free of commercial sells – although we should remember its presenter will be a tad biased! But we're posting it here because we reckon it's a great video guide to the most hardcore of 911s, tracing the history of the lightweight Renn Sport specials all the way back from the 1973 original up to the present day.>> Rip-off or rip-rorting? GPS signals trump cellular in FCC battle
Tue, 28 Feb 2012Bandwidth has become a precious commodity. Just ask any owner of a car that has an analog OnStar system that wound up being a useless brick when digital cellular signals were declared to be the only game in town. LightSquared, a company that grew out of the satellite-communications industry, is banking that the chunk of spectrum it holds the rights to will help smaller, regional competitors compete with the big wireless providers.
German new car sales drop 11 per cent – pre-reg accounts for 33.5 per cent
Fri, 19 Oct 2012New car sales in Germany dropped by 11 per cent in September with pre-reg cars accounting for over a third of all sales. That drop of 11 per cent in Germany is despite deep discount offers – an average of 12.2 per cent in September – with even the previously invincible Mercedes and VW having to offer discounts of up to €3k, despite which VW’s sales fell by 20 per cent in Germany and Mercedes by 12 per cent. What’s perhaps most interesting about the decline in car sales in Germany is the number of pre-reg cars sold (pre reg cars are cars registered by dealers to hit sales targets and then sold at a discount of up to 25 per cent).
