Walking on the Edge: Ford blings out 2011 Sport crossover with 22s, blacked-out grille

Wed, 14 Jul 2010

“Dude, that is sick,” a rival designer gushed to Ford's Doyle Letson when the 2011 Edge Sport was revealed at the Chicago auto show last winter. “What does it look like with the real wheels on?” Letson replied, “Those are the real wheels.” The rollers in question are 22-inch forged aluminum wheels with tuxedo-black spoke accents wrapped in Pirelli tires. 2012 Jaguar Range UK Debut at Motorexpo 2011

Thu, 02 Jun 2011

2012 Jaguar Range - every one a gem You’d have to have been living in a cave for the last couple of years not to know that Jaguar’s cars are now back at the top of the heap, and the 2012 Jaguar Range is probably the strongest line-up from Jaguar in a couple of generations. Regular readers will already have seen all the tweaks and additions to the Jaguar XF, Jaguar XJ and Jaguar XK for 2012 here over the last few months, but there’ll be the chance to see the updates in the flesh from this weekend at Motorexpo at Canary Wharf. The 2012 Jaguar XF – which debuted at New York in April – gets to look more like the concept on which it was based, the Jaguar C-XF Concept, which is a sure sign of the growing confidence at Jaguar.

Ford invents agile, low-cost solution for prototyping, customization and limited production [w/video]

Wed, 03 Jul 2013

A new metal forming technique pioneered by Ford that drastically reduces the time and cost of producing low-volume and one-off body parts may lead to cost-effective customization, redesigns, one-offs and limited production runs. Ford Freeform Fabrication Technology (F3T) forms sheets of metal by two stylus-like tools, one on each side of the surface. Using CAD data they form the part to the exacting strength and finish tolerances usually associated with stamping dies.
