Autocar – the world's oldest car magazine – has today revealed its list of the top 100 British cars in its latest issue.The list, compiled by a survey of the magazine's readers, includes seven Lotuses, six Jaguars, six Fords and five Aston Martins.It also involves one of the fastest cars ever made (the McLaren F1), one of the great design icons of the 20th century (the original Mini) and a car that made it to the New York Museum of Modern Art (the Jaguar E-Type).But which British-engineered icon tops the list?Click on the image above to see our rundown of the top 25 best British cars...  

Autoweek in review: C7 Corvette partly leaks, Edsel's secret shopper, Dax Shepard visits

Omega manufacturing made a public name for itself this week as the supplier inadvertently revealed the front nose of the new Corvette C7 in every detail imaginable. A big whoops for the supplier and a speculator's dream come true before the C7 reveal at the Detroit auto show in January. Edsel Ford II had a secret shopper as Autoweek senior online editor Rory Carroll went to the RM Dingman Collection auction on assignment.

BMW M5 Nighthawk special edition revealed in Japan

BMW has released a special limited edition of the M5 for the Japanese market called the Nighthawk. The special run of just 10 examples will feature a matte paint BMW calls "Frozen Black," which will extend to the 20-inch wheels fitted on the car. Other custom touches will include a blacked-out grille, with the Frozen black paint on a number of exterior details.
