Up for auction this week we have what I believe may be an original spare wheel and tire for a 1960's Rambler. The bolt pattern measures 4 1/2". The tire is a Firestone size 6.95 - 14. The tread is like new. Some of the information on the tire is as follows:  FIRESTONE DELUXE CHAMPION 6.95 TUBELESS REPLACES 6.50 - 14 4 PLY RATING 2 PLY  000NN934 MADE IN USA 174 - UR BD 35663-3.  The tire does not hold air. Minimal dry rot. The rim iis a Kelsey Hayes as it has a KH on the one raised area near the lug holes.   It looks like all it would need is a new coat of paint to make it look like new for a show car. A tire shop could probably fix the leak so that the tire would hold air again. Great to have for that original AMC Rambler.
A rare and hard to find item nowadays!

New Lexus IS UK debut

Fri, 15 Mar 2013

The 2013 Lexus IS – revealed at the Detroit Motor Show – gets its UK public debut at the Ideal Home Show at Earls Court. The Ideal Home Show may not seem the obvious place for Lexus to show the new IS, but Lexus are the headline motor sponsors for the event and you can’t argue with the footfall; footfall that is probably predominantly bang on the Lexus target demographic. And the target demographic for Lexus may be a bit surprised that the new IS is a chunk more dynamic looking than its predecessor, with statement looks – taking cues from the LF-CC Concept – that make the new IS a far more appealing prospect.

Kia Soul EV revealed at the Chicago Motor Show

Thu, 06 Feb 2014

The new Kia Soul EV (pictured) has been revealed in Chicago The Kia Soul EV is Kia’s first effort at a proper mass production EV, and if you’re looking for an electric car it does look promising. Due to go on sale later in 2014 in the US – initially in California, New York and Oregan because of their charging infrastructure – and, Kia promised, the UK and Europe later in 2014 or early 2015, the Soul EV offers a real world driving range of 80-100 miles from a recharge taking half an hour for 80 per cent on a rapid 50kW charger or up to 5 hours for a full recharge from a UK 240 volt supply. The range is helped by Kia’s third-generation regenerative braking system which manages to capture 12 per cent of the car’s kinetic energy, feeding it back in to the battery as electricity during braking and coasting, with four different regeneration modes.
