GM has a Memorandum of Understanding in place to sell Hummer to a 'Mystery' buyer GM are reporting that they have reached a ‘Memorandum of Understanding’  with an unnamed buyer to take Hummer of their hands later in the year. MOUs are not the strongest tool in the arsenal when a sale is being arranged, which tends to indicate that either the buyer likes the idea but won’t commit yet, or they are still in ‘Fund-Raising’ mode. Toyota charity puts boots on the ground in Detroit

For the second year in a row, Toyota has chosen to celebrate the opening of the Detroit auto show with a philanthropic gesture. In order to help homeless women and children in the Detroit area, Toyota's “Walk in my Boots” community project will partner with Moosejaw, a Michigan-based outdoor retailer, to donate new boots to residents of The Salvation Army Denby Center for Children and Family Services in Detroit. Toyota will also be providing a luncheon buffet for the residents when they deliver the boots and donating $10,000 to the facility to help with operations' costs.

Detroit convention center to get upgrades for auto show

For now, the Motor City will retain its spot on the calendar of international auto shows, as plans to upgrade the aging convention center where it's held annually will move forward. A $300 million deal to renovate and expand the nearly 50-year-old Cobo Center in Detroit is set to proceed after an Aug. 1 deadline to scuttle the plan passed without opposition from local officials.
